About Me

CHRIS ANDERSON

Daddy and GirlsI’m the pastor of Tri-County Bible Church, which I was privileged to plant in 1998.

I’m the husband of Lori (God’s great gift to me) and the father of four sweet daughters.

I’m a big sports fan and I enjoy distance running.

I love words, whether I’m reading them, writing them, hearing them, or saying them. Hence, the blog.

My more formal writing includes a number of new hymns (including “His Robes for Mine,” “My Jesus, Fair,” “For the Sake of His Name,” and “I Run to Christ“), the Gospel Meditations devotional series (GM4Men, GM4Women, GM4Missions), and numerous articles on the topics of church life and worship.

I’m a sinner saved by the grace of God extended to humanity through the person and work of Jesus Christ. My passion is knowing, enjoying, and serving my Savior. I urge you to learn how you can know Him, too.

The Lord has especially captured my attention with the following topics: Christ-Centered Christianity, the Gospel for Everyday Life, the Local Church, and Worship. Much of the conversation at My Two Cents focuses on those issues.

What I post here does not necessarily represent the church I pastor, my wife or my daughters. That’s why it’s called My Two Cents…so you can blame me.

My email address is pastorchris(at)tricountybible.org.

  1. Dear Chris,
By now you know whom am I: Louie.
Yes, I am a Church planter among Portuguese Speaking people, based in Portugal, Europe, from where I not only work, but I go out to other 5 nations in Africa that still speaks Portuguese.
We also will soon begin a Bible trainning school, using the internet as well, to prepare labors for the Harvest.
I got to your blog searching for Derek Harm, so that will make me “another Z guy!” plantinng Churches.
My e-mail is thenunesfamily@hotmail.com if you desire to contact me.

  6. Hi, Todd & Krista!

How have you been for the last 13 years? :)

Time flies, eh? I’d love to hear more about what you’re doing. Drop me an email when you get a chance: pastorchris(at)tricountybible.org.

  7. Hey Chris!

Man, I have been trying to track you down for a long time, and just came across this site doing some research on the whole Joe Z. ordeal. I would love to hear from you if you get a spare minute. Looks like you’re doing well, and that’s great to see.

  8. Tommy Brough! No way! It’s not every day you hear from your freshman roommate! Sweet!

I’ll be in touch. Send me an email when you get some time and catch me up on what you’ve been doing for the last decade or so. pastorchris(at)tricountybible(dot)org

  9. E-mail sent your way, Chris! Hope to hear from you soon.

  10. hi there! I noticed my blog had been pinged by wordpress as a “God is Good” so i was checking the other sites who were also pinged. I am adding you to my blogroll, does your wife have a blog as well?

I noticed that you have read the cross centered life by CJ Mahaney. My husband just ordered that, as well as “when sinners say I do. discovering the power of the gospel in marriage” as well as a few sovereign grace worship cd’s, for my valentine’s day gift. To me that is a romantic gift!

    Keep up the good work

But for this reason I was given mercy, so that in me, the chief of sinners, Jesus Christ might make clear all his mercy, as an example to those who in the future would have faith in him to eternal life.

  11. […] Chris Anderson’s “Lost Lessons and Preserved Passions” is exactly right. Since the gospel of Jesus the Messiah is central, it must be central in our passions. […]

  12. Do you have more information about Buckaroo Bible Club? Pastor Joe Linnarus told us of your program and we have searched for ordering and preview information, but have found none. Thank you for your time.

Please contact us through the church e-mail at fbcanglesea@yahoo.com

  13. Hi Chris (and Lori),

I know you all would not remember me, but I remember meeting Lori (esp. the year she was expecting your first and was due right after her graduation). She joked that she would walk right across the stage and into an open ambulance to head for Labor and Delivery.

Anyway, I was formerly Heather Kill (1994-98), and I worked to clean the Public Liassons offices my freshman year (94-95), and in Mack Library the rest of the time. I remember seeing your oldest daughter when she was about a year old when you all returned for commencement.

Well, it’s funny, but the Lord had you and your wife on my mind the other day, and isn’t it neat that I found your web-site through ivman (Mr. Rob Loach).

Thanks for your blog. It’s GREAT reading!

P.S. Were you friends w/ Peter VanDenBerghe? He is my brother-in-law . . . (Jennifer, his wife, is my older sister).

  15. Hey pastor Chris,

It seems like your Church and you have a more dispensational view of the scriptures, but I was wondering why you had “Dr Michael Barrett, Lordship Salvation” mentioned among the recommended sermons if you guys lean more toward “free grace theology,” being a dispensational church. May be I am confused or not on the right track, so didn’t know what to think. ~ Peace

  16. Abhi,

I am not Pastor Chris and I do not go to his church, but the idea of thinking that Lordship Salvation and dispensationalism at are odds seems kind of strange – especially when the chief spokesman/proponent of Lordship Salvation is John MacArthur – who is himself a dispensationalist.

    In Christ,

    Pastor Frank Sansone

  17. Hi, Abhi.

We’re Dispensational-ish. However, we’re quite Reformed regarding our understanding of the Gospel. We’re certainly opposed to any sort of easy-believism. As Franks suggests, there are many Dispensational Calvinists.

I hope you enjoy the sermon. Dr. Barrett is one of my favorite preachers.

  18. 4 Daughters? I only have two and man…
May God have mercy on your soul :)

  19. Chris,

I don’t know if you remember me, Denise Carlson was my sister. We met once when I attended church with her, and then again at her funeral.

My daughter recently sent me a link to your post about sound biblical preaching (she was made aware of it from Facebook friends). I enjoyed reading the post and am very thankful for men like yourself who desire to rightly divide the Word of God and understand the sacred trust that is given to them when they enter the pulpit.

God bless you as you continue to serve him faithfully.

    Debby

  20. Chris,

I stumbled onto your blog via a post you did a few years ago on the retirement of Albert N. Martin. What a preacher he was is! I stumbled onto this video of Martin preaching on a “Warning to Professing Christians.”

    VERY convicting.

I want you to know I appreciate the Christ-centered emphasis you have here on your blog. Fantastic way to redeem the blogosphere for the glory of Christ.

Keep up the insightful posts and keep up the great, God-honoring book reading!

  21. Dear Pastor Chris: Our music minister introduced us to your lovely hymn “I Run To Christ” last night at our Sunday evening service. Let me tell you how delighted we all were, both with the sentiments expressed in the words and with the lovely tune. Our church, Avalon Hills Bible Church, is located in Virginia Beach, VA. Our pastor, Dr. David Rieke, has as his basic philosophy of Christian music the notion that all the generations should be able to worship together. We therefore gladly sing a blend of the old hymns and the best of the contemporary. I will not be surprised if some Sunday morning very soon, your fine hymn is introduced to our congregation of about 325. Thank you so much for this lovely gift of worship and encouragement!
    Sincerely, JoAnn Dorrepaal

  22. Pastor Chris:
can you help me understand…the Spurgeon quote is used to defend the use of music of various styles/denominations, but wasn’t the OUR OWN HYMNBOOK only WORDS?

    Thanks

  23. Hi Chris,
I was in Graves 228 my freshman year (BJU) back in 1992, I believe you were my hall leader. I was fresh out of Mexico and it was refreshing to find some gracious young Christians to encourage me my first few years there.
It’s so good to learn that you are being used of God in the pastorate and beyond.
Give me a call or email me and we can probably catch up without wasting all our time.
I planted a church in my home town of Puebla in Mexico (1998-2005) and now I am planting a church in Glendale, AZ.
    God bless you!

  24. Hi Chris,

I just heard an interview you did with Challies and was excited to hear what you have been involved with in East Africa. To keep it short and to the point: I have been working with pastors and missionaries in Uganda for about 3 and a half years and have a long term vision that fits in with what you are already doing. I am connected with a couple of large US ministries that have similar hearts to yours. When I am not doing my job or spending time with my family, I am thinking about Uganda (using a new filter “When Helping Hurts”) and doing a lot of dreaming about possibilities.

I really believe that there would be something mutually beneficial and encouraging for us to communicate if you have some time. I left my email address in the “leave a reply” section. If that doesn’t work, just leave a comment as I am now a subscriber!

    Thanks

  25. P.S. I don’t know why my wife’s picture came up with my comment, but for the record, that isn’t me! (She looks way better than me)

  26. Hello Chris,

I’m a young Christian man, and I would like to ask a question about your hymn “His Robes for Mine”. The problem is that the e-mail address you have here doesn’t work for me, I don’t know why. Is there any way I can contact you?

    Thanks
