[From Pastor Jeff Anderson]
It has been some time since you heard from me concerning International Bible Conferences. That is not because nothing has been happening. Rather, we have been overwhelmed with the magnitude of the task, the exponential growth of conferences, and the reality of spiritual opposition.
How does one adequately communicate the blessings and challenges of nearly 5000 pastors gathering in Kenya or 24,985 pastors and church leaders meeting together in Uganda? Even pictures (worth a thousand words) cannot do justice to the numbers and logistics, but you can see some of the pictures and descriptions here. The hunger—even starvation—for simple, clear, passionate preaching of the Bible verse-by-verse throughout Africa is profound! And the eternal fruit that springs up from sown seeds of the Word is undeniable. Please read testimonials from some pastors here.
The reality of shipping materials to Africa and meeting hard deadlines has been disheartening at times this year. But now, 1000 MacArthur Study Bibles have been distributed to pastors in Liberia; 5000 MacArthur Study Bibles have been distributed to pastors in Kenya; and 25,000 illustrated Gospel charts are being used by pastors in Uganda.
The reality of rapid growth has been both exhilarating and exhausting. My full-time job and calling as pastor of Grace Bible Church has demanded my intense focus recently. So we are waiting upon the Lord for help (i.e. personnel) at both GBC and IBC.
Yet, the opportunities in Africa remain. We have been requested to host 5000 pastors in Liberia in the coming year. We have been requested to expand the Bible conference in Kenya to 10,000 next year. And we have received invitations to Tanzania and Rwanda in East Africa.
So many of you have prayed fervently—please join us in even more desperate prayer for pastors and Bible Conferences. And so many of you have given sacrificially so that pastors can come to Bible Conferences. Please help us meet the remainder of our 2011 budget —$130,000—as well as getting us started for 2012. Tax deductible gifts can be given online or using the response form below.
This is war—real war. A battle “not against flesh and blood but against principalities, powers, the rulers of the darkness of this age.” A struggle for hearts and minds. A war that demands us to “be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus” and to “endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ,” (2 Tim. 2:1, 3). Thank you for standing with International Bible Conference.
