Update on Maria

Several people have asked how my niece Maria is doing following her bout with bacterial meningitis. I apologize for not posting an update before now.

By God’s grace, Maria is home and appears to be free from any lingering effects. Bacterial meningitis can be fatal or life altering, so we don’t take her recovery for granted at all. Indeed, she was within a few hours of death, and her pediatrician was doubtful whether she would recover. We praise the Lord for His mercy. I’m eager to see what His plans are for this little girl.

I also praise the Lord for the testimony of Jeff and Sheri, Maria’s parents. Throughout the ordeal, they demonstrated unwavering faith, taking advantage of opportunities to point people toward Christ. The Lord was magnified due to their faithfulness.

Thanks so much to those who prayed with us! I’m aware that we often are urgent when making prayer requests, then negligent in offering praise for answers. I’ll try to do better on that.

Along those lines, during our family reunion in Colorado I enjoyed spending time with my nephew Micah, the son of my missionary brother Dan and the boy who spent over a week in the hospital with pneumonia in March. Many of you prayed for his recovery. Well, he’s as healthy as a boy could be. Praise the Lord. And thank you, again, for praying.

  1. Thanks for the word. We rejoice in answered prayer!

  2. We praise the Lord for his blessings with you, Chris.

We won’t quit praying for further blessings for you and your family at the forefront of God’s ministry. Indeed, may God’s blessings be for us all, beginning with our rejoicing in his salvation. This is a wonderful posting. Thank you.
