Parasailing!

This week my family enjoyed a few days at Middle Bass Island, a vacation place on lake Erie—a trip that included parasailing! Here’s a short video I took while being dragged around by a boat some 300-plus feet below me:

Better than my parasailing was the parasailing of a 74-year-old friend of our family, whom I’ll [...]

Grandpa’s Glorious Day

My 94-year-old grandfather is one of the godliest men I know. He has walked with the Lord for most of a century, has raised 7 godly children, and has seen his faith passed on to 3rd and 4th generations. What a heritage! He has also endured the passing of two wives (one very young) and [...]

Jeff Preaching at BJU

My brother Jeff, a pastor in Colorado Springs, is speaking in BJU’s chapel today and tomorrow. I’m sure he’ll do a great job. Wish I could be there!
Please pray for him as it comes to mind.

3 Years Later…

…and we’re still smiling, anyway. And Mommy looks like a million bucks!!

December 2007

Our good friend Craig Krivoy recently had us in for a photo shoot in his basement. He used a new-fangled technique which amounted to getting us to act normal: snuggling, smooching, tickling, etc. The result? A lot of fun and some [...]

Dan’s Reply to “My Brother, My Hero”

Dan intended to post this as a comment in response to this post, but it is so challenging that I chose to highlight it by making it its own post.

Thanks, Chris. Your article was very encouraging.
When we were teens at The WILDS of the Rockies, I committed my life to serving God in [...]

My Brother, My Hero

My brother Dan (pictured with the trophy bull which he bagged this year in Colorado) heads back to Brazil soon following his furlough, and I’m as proud of him as a brother could be. Why?
Dan’s ministry has been uniquely blessed of God. He is returning for his third term (or, as it sometimes seems, “tour [...]

I Am Full!

This is a full week—even fuller in these parts than in most places. This week has been chock-full of undeserved blessings for me, and I’ve taken a few minutes to rehearse them for my own benefit and the benefit of a few friends who may eavesdrop as I talk to myself.
1. We enjoyed a wonderful [...]

Uncle Michael: A Testimony of Unconditional Praise

A framed decorative place mat from BJU’s Thanksgiving Dinner in 1993 hangs on my wall. The theme of that year’s dinner is announced across the top of the picture: “Unconditional Praise.” Beneath the words is a farm scene, including myriads of animals, a beautiful home, and a full barn. However, the idyllic scene is faded [...]

Another Daughter, Another Hymn

Not to be outdone (literally), Esther disappeared for a while this evening and emerged with her first hymn, God the Holy. Not bad for a six-year-old, and it’s all her work, tune and all! (Even her daddy doesn’t do that!)
How I pray that the Savior will make my girls’ black hearts white by His [...]

A New Song…from My Daughters

My oldest two daughters, Rebekah (age 10) and Rachel (age 8), just surprised me with a song of their own. They came up with the text, tune and accompaniment. I just transferred their work into Finale for them. Here is their first hymn writing effort: God Is My Shepherd.

Made my day! And when I told [...]
