I mentioned last week that our writing of For the Sake of His Name for the 10th Anniversary of the SGI Conference was a rush job. Alas, the pieces we put out (to some 750 people at 2 different conferences!) had a typo. (An early edition had “lifeless eyes,” but I changed it to “darkened eyes” in order to include “life” in the next line.) I’ve heard of several churches who plan to use the hymn for mission conferences, so before it spreads any further, I decided to replace it with new pdf files. It’s a small thing, but it matters to me. :) We’re also providing 2 different full-page options: one that has smaller text in order to get the whole hymn on 1 page, and one with larger text, requiring 2 pages. Take your pick.
All that to say, if you have an old copy of For the Sake of His Name (and if you have a copy, it’s old), please discard it and replace it with the files below. Please help spread the word.

For what it’s worth, I like your original version better. “Lifeless” and “life” provide a fuller imagery than “darkened” and “life”- in fact, “darkened” may actually mix the metaphor (restoring sight as opposed to giving life).
Again, FWIW.
