I’ve heard many messages on the local church and many messages by Mark Dever, but I think this is my favorite of each. Dever preached on the importance of the local church at the 2002 New Attitude conference, attended by singles from around the country. Speaking to a generation known for its fierce independence, Dever [...]

I’m off today, and we didn’t do a WSS last week, so I think we’re due. An explanation & the 2 rules can be found here.

Speaking of God being good, I just got a note from my brother Dan, who is home on furlough from his ministry in Brazil. I’ve teamed again with my good friend Greg Habegger (with whom I wrote Holy, Mighty, Worthy) to produce a new hymn. My Jesus Fair focuses on Christ and the suffering He endured at the hands of men and God to obtain our salvation. It is our hope that My Jesus Fair will point the Lord’s [...]

Last night I sent an email to Carl Trueman notifying him of my blog post addressing his comments on Led Zeppelin at the Reformation 21 blog. This morning I received a very congenial (though unconvincing, IMO) response from Dr. Trueman. I considered posting the exchange, but Reformation 21 has already done so in their “We [...]

File this under Things that make you go “Whaaaa…????”
Reformation 21, “The Online Magazine of the Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals,” has a blog post by Carl Trueman in which he shares his enthusiasm over the upcoming reunion of Led Zeppelin and chats about what made them so great.
No kidding.
There’s something about seeing that on a blog [...]

This discussion on parenting resulted in an interesting interpretive question: the children of elders are required to be “faithful,” lest their fathers be unqualified. Does that mean that they must be born again, or that they must be well-behaved? It’s an important question, and not an easy one to settle.
Fortunately, Nathan Busenitz of Faith [...]
