Warning: What follows has nothing to do with (a) ministry or (b) Scott Aniol. Some would consider it Narcissism. So if you don’t want to read about ME, turn away now. You’ve been warned.
________
I’ve taken up running in the last year or so, and I’ve progressed from a slow and painful [...]

Thanks to those of you who prayed for Grace’s cardiologist appointment this morning. First, she was a doll, never making a peep despite being prodded and wired throughout her EKG and echo-cardiogram. That was a blessing.
Far better, the cardiologist said that her VSD (the small hole in her heart) has entirely closed! [...]

We take our youngest daughter, Gracie, for an echocardiogram today. She was born with a Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD)…essentially a small hole in her heart. It shouldn’t be problematic and may even close by itself. However, our Doctor wants to keep an eye on it. Lori and I would appreciate your [...]

I'm involved in a discussion on the meaning and application of Proverbs 22:6 over here. It's become a broader discussion on the nature of proverbs in general.
Lord willing, I'd like to post here a series on the Parenting Proverbs. There is tremendous help there. However, I fear that Proverbs–despite their simpleness–are actually [...]

One more…um…tribute before Scott's birthday is past. We'll call this the "Find Aniol Game." In case you're wondering, the Sensible Me tried to talk the Fun-Loving Me out of this…and lost.
Disclaimer: Any resemblance to real or fictional characters is entirely coincidental. Should such characters exist, whether in real life or in Scott's [...]

(This offer expires on 3/29/06.)
Scott, you've accomplished a lot in a short amount of time! [...]

The previous studies (Preface, Introduction, Ch. 1 and Ch. 2) have been characterized by the exposing of error or by the explaining of doctrinal truth. While chapter 3 (available on-line here) does not entirely lack those elements, it is particularly pastoral. Ryle writes with emotion, urging Christians on to holiness and urging the [...]

I've mentioned that our church is finally starting to move forward with its building program. Last Saturday was another small step.
Although it was supposed to be a "week off," one of our elders–a sixty-something year old dairy farmer who is godly and indefatigable–recruited a handful of men who wanted to work for the fourth [...]

Romans 14 gets plenty of attention these days. Mark Perry, my friend and a fellow "OBF guy," provides good insight into the chapter's meaning and emphasis here. It's worth a read.

Today is one of the half dozen or so sunny days we get each year in Northeast Ohio. This morning I enjoyed the weather by taking a jog and listening to some good stuff on my mp3 player.
I enjoyed a sermon by Pastor Albert Martin entitled “Who We Are and What We Possess in [...]
