There is quite a discussion on the movie theater going on at SI. Here’s a bit of encouragement, mingled with a bit of warning: evangelicalism is addressing the issue, too, but from a far different perspective.
Christianity Today once again weighs in on the movie issue with a column by Craig Detweiler from Biola. Among the lowlights: [...]

Shwew! What a weekend! In addition to my responsibilities as a pastor, husband and father, I’ve also managed to take up some hobbies that keep me flying from coast to coast:
* My…um…”stalled” NBA career was nice while it lasted. I’ve still managed to stay in good enough shape to make the Bucknell track team, which is no [...]

I just spent 5 of the last 8 hours driving to Central Ohio to speak at a church’s winter banquet. In other words, I should be in bed. Yet, here I am. Why? My heart is full, and I want to record my thoughts while they’re fresh.
The church where I was speaking is an OBF [...]

If you’re not careful, you can pull a belly muscle over at The Sacred Sandwhich. Two photojournalism offerings are especially appreciated in light of recent discussions:
* Those concerned about “Ministry & Music” should give this one a look. Funny…in a sad sort of way.
* For those entrenched in the “Ministry & Movies” discussions (like here [...]

This is an interesting critique of Bruce Wilkinson’s failed missions attempt in Africa. It seems that the author of the amazingly successful book “The Prayer of Jabez” learned that God actually isn’t bound to say “How high?” when we say “Jump.”

The following article was originally published in the Ohio Bible Fellowship Visitor in January of 2006.
_____________
I like movies. I like plays. And I like television. I admit this, not because it is a virtue, but because it is a fact. I appreciate an heroic war story. I like a good laugh. I enjoy following the clues [...]

My good friend Greg Habegger just sent me the revised copy of the hymn which we have worked on together. We just sang it last Sunday night at TCBC. If you’re interested, you can see files for the song at the following links:
Holy, Mighty, Worthy (Text by Chris Anderson; Tune by Greg Habegger)

One of my concerns about “the blogosphere” is that it can tend to promote shared ignorance. I’m not being unkind or even pessimistic. Rather, I’m saying that we are unwise to prioritize reading each other–our peers–rather than reading “masters.” (Do I get points for recognizing that we’re not “masters”?) Blogging–even for lurkers–can be like hanging out in [...]

Occasionally I hope to share answers to prayer and bits of encouragement here. I’m very pleased to be able to do that this morning! Here’s a “condensed” version of what God is doing:
Chuck, Gloria and Debbie were introduced to our ministry last month by a “friend-of-a-friend” from another state. Chuck is battling a brain tumor that is cancerous. Our [...]
